Floris, or Sam as many people call him, has a very pronounced chin and cheek bones. In his younger days he was quite handsome and many would joke he could of become an actor. His previously auburn hair had turned to a slight grey and is usually a tangled mess kept in a sort of formal position since he took the job on as park ranger. He has a slight limp in his right leg from a bear attack during an incident with a picnic basket. His skin is most often tanned but not in an unnatural way, rather it was achieved by long hours in the sun making his dimples more pronounced by being darker then the rest of his face. He does require reading glasses but outside he is a far sighted, giving him expert views of the park but also obscuring his sense of hand eye coordination.
PERSONALITY
Floris has always been a friendly and easygoing type of person who never took much seriously and at times has been considered quite eccentric. Many people could refer to him as a new age hippy if it wasn't for his love of hunting. Before he had even turned eighteen he had won some of Nevada's most prestigous awards for shooting and since then he can be quite arrogant at skill at shooting. He is quite high mannered as he had been taught to be by Mormon parents, usually referring to people by their full first name and sometimes their full name entirely. It was during college he became a Conservationalist and environmentalist, embracing the idea of saving the forests and 'going green' to the point it could be called idealistical or crazy. Though he has never had a fear of wild animals, not even bears, Floris has a extreme dislike for cats, mainly of the housepet variety, due to a history with them.
Most importantly many would not consider him to be very bright in intelligence. It's not uncommon for him to missplace objects that he holding or was just using, instruction manuals are an enigma to him, and mathematics is not his forte

Floris was born in Washington to a Mormon family and though he never understood the part of religion or had any interest in it his parents made it a point to teach him proper manners. The family lived near Seattle in the forested country side until he was six when his father managed to buy an old ranch down in Nevada. Moving down, Floris was overwhelmed with a sense of adventure for his newfound territory. The ranch bought a small herd of cattle to start with and when his father was out in the field with them, Floris would explore the terrain for new and wonderful things. At ten his father had introduced him the use of guns and under his careful supervision and guidance, Floris learned to shoot cans of the back fence with ease. He grew to love shooting and sometimes his father would take him hunting as well. Once in high school he joined the Trap team and became a top shooters, eventually winning two first place awards from State Trap tournament and won bronze in the hunting tournament.
Once he graduated from High school he remained on the ranch for a year before going off to college to study husbandry and newer styles of ranching. He found his interest soon changed from ranching to biology and the environment thanks to a charismatic professor. He became a conservationalist and environmentalist, even for a short time he was a member of a commune that lived near the college until it fell apart. He graduated with a degree in biology and majored in park management. He quickly found a job at Lake Tahoe national park as a park Ranger. He worked diligently and loved every moment of it. By thirty he had become the chief Park Ranger for the lake and even volunteered for the dangerous job of being the district's water marshal. On the side he still hunted and coached trap teams but he never competed in another tournament. He was well liked by the entire community for his friendly attitude and work ethic, at one point he was even engaged to marry until they both agreed to call it off.
It was during the year 2012 that Floris began to worry about an actual epidemic from, not swine flu but rather Bird Flu. In his mind with everyone living in cities in such close proximity to each other he felt an epidemic was inevitable to spread. Quietly he began to stock up on supplies and rations even when the bird flu died down. He insisted to his rangers that it would come back and so continued to renovate the park's most secluded lodge and buying supplies to live off the land. When the wreaker's epidemic did begin, Floris, the man that everyone thought was an insane goof, turned out to be their savior. Taking in the local communities and part of their herds, he guided them up to one of Lake Tahoe's secluded lodges to wade it out. With his Park rangers and volunteers they patrolled the borders of the park with rifles on the look out from wreakers as well as survivors. Soon nearly 200 people were staying in the confines of the lodge and the surrounding area and food was getting taxing without dipping into the actual rations Floris had bought, he believed them to be a last resort seeing as they were a one time use.
Ignorant of what was going on around him, Floris believed himself to be a true savior and even named himself Mayor of the Lake Tahoe Commune. Meanwhile though, discontent was forming in his own ranger staff and the large ranch owners who were forced to abandon their entire herd. Though Floris held most of the support it was quickly slipping due to his failing mentality...

We need to make the bios for NPCs so I wanted to introduce this idea I've been fiddling with, a safe house in lake Taheo as well as a little story arc that we could later pursue with the discontent in the community.
